ACI World Governing Board – ACI World’s Global Governing Body
The ACI World Governing Board (WGB) is the global governing body of ACI World, bringing together senior leaders from airport operators nominated by ACI’s regional boards. The WGB plays an important role in guiding the strategic direction of ACI World, considering key issues affecting the global aviation industry, and helping ensure that ACI’s policies, recommendations and programmes reflect the common interests of the worldwide airport community.
At the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Conference held in Busan, Republic of Korea, in November 2025, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung was endorsed by the regional board to represent the region on the WGB. His role was formally confirmed at WAGA 2026 for a three-year term. Since 2023, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung has also served as a standing member of the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East Regional Board, contributing to regional engagement, knowledge exchange and discussions on aviation policies and industry development. His appointment to the ACI World Governing Board further expands ACV’s participation in the ACI network, from the regional level to the global scale.
WAGA 2026 – A Forum Shaping the Future Priorities of Aviation
Held in Lima, Peru, WAGA 2026 is one of the key gatherings of the global airport community, bringing together more than 600 aviation leaders, industry experts, government representatives and partners from more than 60 countries. With more than 50 speakers and 20 sessions, WAGA 2026 addressed strategic issues shaping the long-term development of the aviation industry, including aviation safety, connectivity, tourism development, infrastructure investment and capacity, passenger experience, non-aeronautical business, sustainability, airspace operations and the impact of geopolitical developments on global aviation.
One of the key issues highlighted by the international airport community at WAGA 2026 was the challenge of meeting long-term demand growth. According to information shared by ACI World during the event, the global aviation industry will require more than USD 4 trillion in investment through 2055 to accommodate projected growth in demand.
However, expanding capacity will require more than new infrastructure investment. It will also require airports to improve the efficiency of existing infrastructure, strengthen coordination among airports, airlines and air navigation service providers, and enhance policy frameworks so that airport infrastructure can maximize its connectivity value and contribution to regional economic development.
Discussions at WAGA 2026 further highlighted the need for the aviation industry to accommodate continued growth in air travel while simultaneously improving passenger experience, operational efficiency and long-term sustainability. According to ACI World, global passenger traffic continued to grow during the first half of 2026 and is projected to reach 19.8 billion passengers by 2047.
Against this backdrop, WAGA 2026 served not only as a platform for airport operators to exchange practical experience, but also as an international forum for the aviation community to discuss future development priorities and the conditions required to build airport capacity capable of meeting the needs of the coming decades.
Expanding ACV’s Contribution to the Global Airport Community
ACV’s representation on the ACI World Governing Board provides the Corporation with a more direct platform to engage with global aviation strategies, policies and development trends, while strengthening dialogue, connectivity and knowledge exchange with leading airport operators around the world.
The participation of an ACV representative in ACI World’s global governance mechanism further reflects ACV’s growing engagement, international profile and integration within the global airport community. It also creates additional opportunities for ACV to share experience with international aviation stakeholders, strengthen cooperation and contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s aviation sector.
