On June 1, 2026, at Crowne Plaza Shanghai Nanjing Road in Shanghai, China, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) co-organized the “Vietnam–China Aviation and Tourism Connectivity Program,” bringing together representatives from government agencies, local authorities, aviation stakeholders, and tourism enterprises from both countries.
Led by ACV Deputy General Director Mr. Nguyen Cao Cuong, the delegation included representatives from ACV’s functional departments and affiliated units, alongside leaders from major airports such as Tan Son Nhat, Long Thanh, Cat Bi, Dong Hoi, Phu Bai, and Can Tho.
The event was also attended by Mr. Tran Huy Hung, Consul General of Vietnam in Shanghai; Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hue City; Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province; and representatives from tourism authorities, foreign affairs departments, and investment, trade, and tourism promotion agencies. On the Chinese side, the program welcomed representatives from Vietnam Airlines’ China Branch and ten leading Chinese travel agencies and charter flight operators.
Organized as a platform for direct dialogue, the program aimed to facilitate discussions on market demand, the potential for new air routes, and opportunities to strengthen aviation and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China. The event was held against the backdrop of rapidly growing travel, tourism, and trade demand between the two countries, underscoring the importance of expanding connectivity and fostering deeper economic and cultural exchanges.

Overview of the conference
Exploring new opportunities for aviation and tourism growth
During the conference, participants reviewed the current landscape of the Vietnam–China aviation market, discussed emerging international tourism trends, and explored opportunities to expand air services to Vietnam’s high-potential destinations.

Showcasing Vietnam’s aviation infrastructure and Long Thanh International Airport
A key highlight of the program was ACV’s presentation on the capabilities of Vietnam’s airport network. ACV and its member airports showcased their infrastructure capacity, operational readiness, and ability to support the launch and expansion of international air services.
Particular attention was given to Long Thanh International Airport, Vietnam’s flagship national aviation infrastructure project. ACV emphasized the airport’s future role as a modern regional aviation hub and a strategic gateway capable of supporting long-term growth in passenger and cargo traffic throughout Southeast Asia.

Creating momentum for new air routes and sustainable growth
The program also provided ACV and participating localities with valuable insights into market demand for charter services and MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) from China. These discussions are expected to serve as an important foundation for developing new air routes, increasing flight frequencies, and gradually transforming charter operations into scheduled services.
Such developments would not only enhance connectivity between Vietnam and China but also contribute to sustainable economic growth, tourism development, and greater people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.
Through initiatives such as the Vietnam–China Aviation and Tourism Connectivity Program, ACV continues to demonstrate its commitment to working closely with local authorities, airlines, and international partners to expand Vietnam’s aviation network. These efforts play a vital role in promoting tourism, facilitating trade, and advancing Vietnam’s integration into the global economy.
