To meet rising passenger demand during the 2026 summer peak period, Dong Hoi Airport has proactively developed and implemented comprehensive operational plans. Notably, the deployment of an end-to-end biometric authentication system has initially helped optimize passenger processing and deliver a more convenient travel experience.
As the 2026 summer peak begins, air transport activities through Dong Hoi Airport have recorded positive growth. To serve increasing demand for tourism and trade, the airport’s average flight frequency has been raised to 12 aircraft movements per day, double the normal schedule of around six movements per day.
Throughout the 2026 summer peak period, Dong Hoi Airport is expected to handle approximately 1,133 flights, up 9.7% compared with the same period in 2025, when 1,030 flights were recorded. Passenger throughput is projected to reach 206,659 passengers, an increase of nearly 10% from 187,872 passengers during last year’s summer peak.
In response to the higher operating intensity, the airport has mobilized maximum personnel and equipment resources to ensure that ground handling activities are carried out safely, smoothly and efficiently.
As part of its ongoing digital transformation efforts, Dong Hoi Airport has applied biometric authentication technology, using facial recognition, throughout the passenger handling process. This key solution helps reduce pressure on terminal infrastructure, particularly during peak hours.
In addition to adopting modern technology, Dong Hoi Airport continues to focus on direct service quality. Airport staff and youth volunteer teams have been strengthened at check-in areas to promptly guide and support passengers in using the new biometric system.
Terminal facilities have also been comprehensively reviewed. The air-conditioning system is maintained regularly to ensure a cool and comfortable environment, while free drinking water stations are equipped with environmentally friendly paper cups to meet hygiene and safety standards.
At the same time, the airport has worked closely with local authorities and relevant forces to manage traffic flows, maintain security and order, and strengthen fire prevention and fighting measures, ensuring absolute safety for all arriving and departing flights.
With its proactive operational planning, enhanced service capacity and application of digital technology, Dong Hoi Airport is well prepared to serve passengers during the 2026 summer peak period, contributing to safe, convenient and efficient air travel.
