On the afternoon of August 4, 2025, at Vinh International Airport, ACV held a meeting to report on the progress of ongoing projects at the airport. Attendees included Mr. Hoang Phu Hien – Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet – Deputy General Director of ACV, along with representatives from the Departments of Construction, Agriculture & Environment of Nghe An Province, ACV’s Construction Investment Project Management Unit, ADCC Company, contractors, supervision consultants, and inspectors.

During the meeting, the parties reported on the progress of bidding packages, actual construction status, and proposed an investment plan to extend the existing runway by 600 meters. This extension aims to enhance operational capacity, accommodate larger aircraft, and promote economic and tourism development in the North Central region.

Vice Chairman Hoang Phu Hien acknowledged the efforts of the construction teams and emphasized: “Investing in the runway extension is a strategic move that requires careful planning to ensure long-term effectiveness. Procedures must be completed promptly to begin implementation during the current upgrade phase.”

Immediately after the meeting, the working group inspected the construction site, surveyed ongoing work, and presented gifts to encourage engineers and workers operating under hot weather conditions.

From 00:00 on July 1 to December 31, 2025, Vinh International Airport has temporarily suspended all flight operations to facilitate three major infrastructure upgrade projects:

• Runway and taxiway repair – with a total investment of over 623 billion VND, focusing on reinforcing pavement foundations, drainage systems, lighting, and aviation signals.
• Apron expansion – covering nearly 30,000 m², increasing capacity to 9 narrow-body aircraft stands, with a total investment of approximately 237 billion VND.
• Passenger Terminal T1 renovation – expanding usable space to increase annual capacity from 2.5 million to 3–3.5 million passengers.
