Amid the peak of the summer heat at Cat Bi International Airport, outdoor temperatures have continued to rise, with the aircraft apron surface at times radiating temperatures exceeding 60°C. Under such extreme conditions, there remain countless individuals who work tirelessly every day behind the scenes to ensure that every flight departs safely, smoothly, and on schedule.

On May 25, the concrete surface temperature at the aircraft parking apron of Cat Bi International Airport was recorded at 61°C.
Ground service personnel, individuals who rarely appear before cameras or attract passengers’ attention, are nevertheless indispensable links in the airport’s entire operational chain.
From guiding aircraft into parking positions, loading and unloading baggage and cargo, inspecting ground support equipment, refueling operations, technical servicing, aircraft cleaning, to coordinating airside safety procedures, every task is carried out under the blistering heat of the apron.

Despite the harsh weather conditions, all airside operations have continued uninterrupted.
Every step taken across the heat-radiating concrete surface, every sweat-soaked uniform after hours of continuous work, stands as a testament to the sense of responsibility, dedication, and professional pride of the aviation workforce at Cat Bi International Airport.
During peak operational hours, ground staff often work continuously amid the roar of jet engines, the intense heat emitted from aircraft, and strict time pressures. Yet above all challenges, they maintain unwavering focus and precision in every procedure to ensure absolute flight safety.
Behind every safe and seamless journey for passengers lies the relentless effort of countless workers on the airport apron.
They may not always be the first to be recognized, but they are the silent contributors helping to keep the skies safe, connecting journeys, and carrying the trust of millions of passengers.

These silent workers make invaluable contributions to the safety of every flight.
A representative of the Ground Services Department at Cat Bi International Airport shared:
“To ensure employees’ well-being while maintaining operational efficiency, the unit has proactively arranged flexible work shifts and schedules, except in unavoidable circumstances. The health and safety of our employees always remain our top priority.”
In addition to scientifically organizing working hours, the Trade Union of Cat Bi International Airport has also promptly implemented practical support activities such as the “Summer Cooling Program,” aimed at encouraging employees and alleviating the intense heat for personnel working at the airport’s most demanding operational areas.
The unwavering commitment and resilience demonstrated by all officers, employees, and workers amid extreme weather conditions serve as the strongest affirmation that Cat Bi International Airport remains fully dedicated to ensuring absolute flight safety and delivering high-quality passenger services, worthy of its position as the key gateway airport of Northern Vietnam’s coastal region.
