During the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day and the April 30 – May 1, 2026 holiday period, Tan Son Nhat International Airport is expected to handle approximately 125,000 passengers per day, with an average of 750 arriving and departing flights. To meet the surge in travel demand, the airport has proactively implemented a range of synchronized measures to optimize operational capacity and enhance service quality.
Passenger Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport has been officially operational since April 2025, with a strategic orientation toward comprehensive optimization of operational processes in a flexible and modern manner, leveraging digital transformation as a key driver to enhance capacity. The airport has closely coordinated with Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporate – southern branch in designing and standardizing taxi routes within aircraft parking areas. This solution significantly reduces the workload for air traffic controllers, while enabling pilots to quickly identify parking positions, shorten taxiway occupancy time, and improve overall operational efficiency.
Operational optimization and acceleration of digital transformation
The implementation of the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) model has delivered tangible results, helping each flight save an average of 1.2 to 1.5 minutes in taxi time. With an annual volume exceeding 255,000 takeoffs and landings, these savings are not only operationally meaningful but also contribute significantly to fuel efficiency and environmental protection.
In parallel, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has accelerated the application of science, technology, and digital transformation across multiple domains: deploying cashless payment systems; developing real-time aircraft and passenger monitoring software to support managers and operators in proactively allocating resources and regulating operations; upgrading IT infrastructure; implementing Common Use Terminal Equipment/Common Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUTE/CUPPS); and enhancing the Flight Information Display System (FIDS), thereby shortening processing times and improving accuracy and operational efficiency.

The advancement of digital transformation at Terminal T3 enables passengers to complete flight procedures more conveniently and efficiently.
Strengthening interagency coordination and ensuring safety and security
The airport maintains close coordination with the Border Police and Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporate in passenger services and the safe, flexible operation of flights during peak hours. Simultaneously, it works closely with the Southern Airports Authority to strictly supervise compliance with aviation security and safety regulations.
Through its connection with the Aviation Meteorological Center, the airport continuously updates weather forecasts to adopt appropriate flight operation plans. A 24/7 command duty regime and Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) monitoring are strictly maintained, ensuring readiness to respond to all emergency situations within terminal and airside areas.
Enhancing passenger experience and service quality
From April 25 to May 3, 2026 (between 05:00 and 10:00), youth volunteers from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the Vietnam Aviation Academy, and the Border Police will be stationed at public halls and security screening areas to provide direct guidance and assistance to passengers.

Youth volunteer forces are always ready to assist and guide passenger flows, helping ensure fast and convenient completion of flight procedures.
Timely coordination with relevant units is ensured in implementing operational plans, with prompt updates on flight arrivals and departures to effectively regulate and allocate resources during peak periods. Special arrangements are also in place for VIP and dedicated charter flights, ensuring seamless operations and timely resolution of arising issues.

Support from functional forces helps passengers feel reassured and complete procedures more quickly during peak hours.
The airport has proactively reviewed parking areas and implemented flexible traffic flow management to prevent congestion. Complimentary amenities such as Wi-Fi and drinking water are consistently maintained. The number of luggage trolleys and collection staff is maximized during peak hours, alongside the rational and scientific allocation of human resources before, during, and after the holiday period.
Additionally, non-aviation service providers, including taxi operators and ride-hailing services, are committed to maintaining service quality, publicly listing prices, and strictly complying with food safety and hygiene standards. Airlines are required to assign representatives at check-in counters and boarding gates to promptly address and inform passengers in cases of delays or cancellations, ensuring that public order and security are upheld.
Communication efforts are continuously maintained, providing timely information to media agencies and passengers. With thorough preparation, Tan Son Nhat International Airport is committed to delivering a Professional – Safe – Friendly – Efficient aviation environment throughout this significant national holiday.
