To meet the busy travel demand during the 2026 summer season, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has proactively reviewed and implemented comprehensive operational plans. With the broader application of biometric technology and close coordination among relevant units, the airport is focusing on its highest priorities: ensuring safety, security and smooth operations across airport infrastructure.
According to traffic forecasts, passenger and flight volumes during this year’s summer peak period are expected to increase by approximately 15% compared with current levels. On average, the airport is projected to handle around 720 flights per day, including 440 domestic flights and 280 international flights.
The busiest period is expected to take place from 1 July to 15 August 2026, when flight movements may reach up to 730 flights per day, with passenger throughput rising to approximately 125,000 passengers daily. In June, traffic has also remained high, with around 670 flights and 115,000 passengers handled each day.

To maintain smooth operations and manage passenger flows effectively amid higher traffic levels, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has developed flexible plans for allocating check-in counters, baggage claim belts and boarding gates across Terminals T1, T2 and T3.
In particular, the deployment of biometric identification technology for boarding procedures at Terminal T3 marks an important step forward in improving passenger facilitation. This solution helps reduce queuing time and enhances the overall airport experience. At the same time, the airport has optimized the Flight Information Display System (FIDS) by improving flight information visibility, helping passengers identify the correct terminal and boarding gate more easily and minimizing the risk of confusion.

In addition to infrastructure and technology solutions, direct operational coordination is being maintained at a high level. The airport has requested airline representatives to be present regularly at check-in counters and boarding gates to provide timely updates and promptly handle arising situations such as flight delays or cancellations. These measures aim to ensure passenger comfort while maintaining security and order inside the terminals.
Operational plans for night flights have also been carefully prepared. The Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) continues to maintain 24/7 command duty, while coordination with the Southern Airports Authority and the aviation meteorological center has been strengthened to ensure safe and stable flight operations, including during the rainy and stormy season.

To ensure a smoother travel experience, Tan Son Nhat International Airport recommends that passengers arrive at the airport 2 to 3 hours before departure and prioritize online check-in or kiosk check-in where available. After completing check-in procedures, passengers are advised to proceed promptly to security screening areas, strictly follow aviation security instructions and avoid any conduct that may violate aviation safety regulations, such as filming on the apron or standing on baggage carousels.
The airport also encourages passengers to use public transportation and limit the number of people accompanying them to the airport, contributing to reduced traffic pressure around terminal areas.
With comprehensive preparation in infrastructure, technology, manpower and operational coordination, Tan Son Nhat International Airport is ready to provide passengers with safe, convenient and efficient journeys throughout the 2026 summer peak season.
