The summer of 2026 has seen strong travel demand across Viet Nam, with airports nationwide strengthening operational readiness to serve passengers during the peak period. Located in Thanh Hoa Province, Tho Xuan Airport, under the direction of Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), has been actively enhancing service quality, operational coordination, aviation safety and security to meet rising passenger demand during peak hours.

During this year’s summer peak period, passenger traffic through Tho Xuan Airport continued to record notable activity. From 15 May to 20 June 2026, the airport handled 98,573 passengers, with an average throughput of approximately 3,000 passengers per day. On the busiest day, the airport served up to 3,977 passengers. Although overall passenger volume decreased by 8% compared with the same period last year, partly due to global developments and the growing diversification of domestic travel options, pressure during peak time slots remained significant. In response, and with close guidance from ACV, Tho Xuan Airport maintained stable, smooth and well-coordinated operations, with no prolonged congestion reported.
At the beginning of the 2026 summer peak season, following ACV’s direction, Mr. Tran Sy Hien, Director of Tho Xuan Airport, instructed relevant units to develop detailed plans on manpower, equipment and vehicles to ensure effective peak-season operations. The airport has focused on improving passenger service quality while promoting the application of science, technology and digital solutions in daily operations and passenger facilitation.
Throughout the peak period, airport units have also maintained close coordination with the Immigration Management Division (PA08) to exchange information and strengthen passenger control measures. These efforts aim to ensure national security, social order and public safety within the airport area, while giving passengers greater peace of mind when travelling through Tho Xuan Airport.
As part of its preparations for the summer peak season, in May 2026, Tho Xuan Airport proactively coordinated with local authorities to organize legal awareness and communication programs on aviation safety culture in communes adjacent to the airport area. Through these sessions, local residents were provided with practical information on aviation safety regulations and the risks posed by activities such as flying kites, using laser lights or high-intensity lighting devices near flight paths, and burning straw or crop residues that may reduce pilots’ visibility.
These communication activities received strong support from the local community and contributed to building a “community safety buffer”, encouraging residents to work together with the airport in protecting the safety of each aircraft movement.
To improve the passenger experience, the Ground Handling Service Team, Technical Team and Airport Operations Team have implemented a range of coordinated measures. The airport has increased staffing levels and arranged personnel at key areas including public zones, check-in counters, aviation security screening points, boarding gates and baggage claim areas.

Airport staff have also strengthened passenger guidance, internal traffic coordination, timely flight information support and assistance with check-in procedures, helping passengers move through the terminal more conveniently.
Special attention has been given to passengers requiring assistance, including elderly passengers, unaccompanied minors, pregnant women and passengers with special needs. The terminal is maintained in a clean, spacious and orderly condition, while close coordination with airlines and other operating units at the airport has helped optimize processes and reduce waiting times for passengers.

Alongside service quality, safety and security remain the airport’s top priorities. Tho Xuan Airport has worked closely with service and operating units to strengthen airside supervision and strictly implement coordination procedures among internal units.
Fire prevention, firefighting, search and rescue forces remain on full standby, with adequate equipment and regular professional training to ensure readiness for any emergency situation. A key factor in maintaining a strong safety and security framework at Tho Xuan Airport is the airport’s regular and close coordination with competent authorities, military units stationed in the area, the Immigration Management Division (PA08), and local government agencies.

The safe, professional and passenger-oriented operations of Tho Xuan Airport serve as an important first touchpoint for visitors arriving in Thanh Hoa, a province with rich tourism potential. From the airport, convenient transport connections allow passengers to travel easily to Sam Son Beach, known for its vibrant summer atmosphere and festivals, or to the quieter coastal destinations of Hai Tien and Hai Hoa.
Visitors can also explore the Ho Dynasty Citadel, a unique stone-built UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, pay tribute at the Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site, or experience the cool mountain landscapes and terraced fields of Pu Luong Nature Reserve, an increasingly attractive destination for eco-tourism and summer retreats.

With comprehensive preparation, close coordination and a strong commitment to safety, security and service quality, Tho Xuan Airport remains ready to serve passengers safely and efficiently throughout the 2026 summer peak season.
