On April 10, 2026, Da Nang International Airport officially inaugurated a priority boarding lane dedicated to passengers using biometric identification, marking a significant advancement in the application of digital technology in airport operations and passenger services at the central region’s key aviation gateway.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Phan Kieu Hung, Director of Da Nang International Airport; Mr. Hoang Minh Thang, Head of the Border Police at Da Nang International Airport; Mr. Tran Tan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Central Airports Authority; along with representatives of airlines, airport-based units, relevant departments and agencies and numerous media organizations.

The priority lane system is developed on the foundation of the VNeID electronic identification and authentication platform, enabling passenger recognition through pre-enrolled and verified biometric data stored in the national database. Unlike conventional shared checkpoints, eligible passengers are directed to a dedicated area, where security screening and boarding procedures are completed through an automated facial recognition system. This model not only shortens processing time for passengers but also alleviates congestion at manual checkpoints, particularly during peak hours.

The biometric system is seamlessly integrated with automated control gates (e-gates), artificial intelligence-powered facial recognition devices, and is directly connected to the national identity database. As a result, passenger authentication is conducted swiftly and accurately, while maintaining strict aviation security and safety standards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Kieu Hung, Director of Da Nang International Airport, emphasized that this initiative represents a concrete step toward implementing the Government’s policy on leveraging population data and electronic identification. It is a critical component in the roadmap toward a paperless travel journey and the development of a sustainable smart airport model.

In the coming period, Da Nang International Airport will continue to refine the system, expand its scope of application, and enhance passenger guidance to ensure easy access and utilization of the service, thereby progressively improving operational efficiency and service quality.
