On March 5, 2026, a high-level meeting between the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) was held at ACV Headquarters.
The meeting was chaired by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Phuong, Member of the Board of Directors of ACV. The Japanese delegation was led by Mr. Toshiki Sakurai, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NGO, with the participation of senior leaders from both sides.
Overview of the meeting
In her remarks, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Phuong highly appreciated the effective implementation of the Sister Airport Agreement (SAA) at the corporate level, which was signed in March 2024. She also emphasized the important role of NGO as a strategic partner for ACV in the Japanese market. Over the past period, the two sides have carried out various practical cooperation activities focusing on key areas, including market development and route network expansion, enhancement of service quality and passenger experience, professional exchanges, human resource training, and tourism promotion.

In addition to cooperation at the corporate level, NGO has maintained close partnerships with several major airports under ACV, including Da Nang International Airport and Noi Bai International Airport. This cooperation program has contributed significantly to the international terminal at Da Nang International Airport achieving the prestigious Skytrax 5-Star Terminal certification, while also maintaining regular staff exchange programs with NGO.
For Noi Bai International Airport, consultancy and training programs with NGO are also being implemented, contributing to notable improvements in service quality and passenger experience.
From NGO’s side, Mr. Toshiki Sakurai expressed his appreciation for the strong partnership with ACV as well as its member airports. He highlighted Vietnam as a strategic and priority market for NGO, noting the country’s impressive aviation growth. He also reaffirmed NGO’s willingness to share management experience, service standards, and innovation initiatives to further enhance passenger experience and strengthen aviation connectivity between the two countries.
Currently, routes connecting Nagoya with Vietnam’s two major airports, including Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Noi Bai International Airport, are operated with approximately 23 flights per week, reflecting significant growth compared to previous periods.

In 2026, ACV and NGO agreed to maintain regular exchanges and meetings to update market information and coordinate the development of air routes between Vietnam and Nagoya, while jointly implementing destination promotion programs. Both sides also expressed their desire to promote the launch of a direct route between Da Nang International Airport and Nagoya.
At the same time, cooperation between Noi Bai International Airport and NGO will continue to be strengthened, alongside the expansion of collaboration with Tan Son Nhat International Airport and the future Long Thanh International Airport.
In parallel, both sides emphasized the importance of human resource development and the application of advanced technologies in airport management, operations, and service promotion, aiming to improve management efficiency, enhance service quality monitoring, and support sustainable development and deeper international integration.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the Sister Airport partnership, maximizing the effectiveness of existing cooperation programs, and expanding new initiatives to enhance Vietnam–Japan aviation connectivity in the coming years.
