On 10 December 2025, Airports Corporation of Vietnam – JSC (ACV) held a working session with the “Hong Kong Infrastructure and Green Development Mission to Vietnam”, organized by the Belt and Road Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. The meeting formed part of a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation in infrastructure development, green growth, and broader economic connectivity between Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Chaired by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Phuong, Member of the Board of Directors, the session brought together relevant ACV functional departments. ACV presented an overview of its airport operations, investment orientations, and development plans across its airport network, including major projects such as Long Thanh International Airport and the upgrade roadmap for existing airports. ACV also emphasized its commitment to green development, technology adoption, and operational excellence aligned with global sustainability trends in the aviation industry.

Overview of the meeting.

The Hong Kong delegation recognized ACV’s key role in Vietnam’s transport infrastructure ecosystem and shared a wide range of practical insights. Hong Kong highlighted its position as one of the world’s leading aviation hubs, operating a large-scale logistics and cargo system with an annual handling capacity of approximately 5 million tonnes. In addition to infrastructure strengths, Hong Kong has implemented advanced warehouse and cargo management models, applying deep automation that significantly reduces processing time—by up to six hours. Notably, Hong Kong is also advancing low-altitude unmanned aerial cargo transport technologies (drone low-altitude) to support urban goods movement and micro-level logistics connectivity between airports and seaports—an emerging trend that ACV may explore for future adaptation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in investment and technical collaboration, cargo terminal operations, green logistics solutions, and the potential involvement of Hong Kong financial institutions and infrastructure enterprises in ACV’s upcoming projects. The discussion took place in a constructive and open atmosphere, demonstrating strong potential for practical and long-term cooperation.
