On the occasion of the grand celebration marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam Independence Day on September 2, Noi Bai International Airport is expected to experience a peak in flight operations, with a significant increase in passenger volume and complex flight activities. To ensure absolute flight safety during these historic days, on August 12, 2025, aviation units held a coordination conference to develop flexible and appropriate operational plans for this period.

The festive atmosphere celebrating the 80th anniversary of this major national event is spreading across the country, with Hanoi as the focal point of commemorative activities. As the aviation gateway to the capital, Noi Bai International Airport is entering its final preparation phase for what is expected to be a record-breaking surge in flights and passenger traffic.

To ensure smooth and safe operations, Noi Bai International Airport hosted a coordination conference with key stakeholders, including: Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Northern Airports Authority, Northern Air Traffic Management Company, Air Traffic Flow Management Center, Domestic and international airlines, and Ground service providers.

Record International Passenger Volume, Domestic Travel Expected to Surge

According to forecasts, traffic volume during the holiday is expected to spike dramatically. In particular, international passenger numbers are reaching record highs, with some days projected to see nearly 44,000 international travelers—the highest ever recorded. This increase is driven by delegations attending the national celebrations and the recent launch of several new international routes at Noi Bai International Airport.

Meanwhile, domestic travel is also expected to rise, as tens of thousands of people from across the country head to Hanoi for major cultural and national events. On the busiest day, Noi Bai is projected to serve nearly 110,000 passengers and 638 flights, a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Tight Coordination to Ensure Absolute Flight Safety

From August 14 to September 2, flight operations at Noi Bai will be highly active, involving various flight procedures. To ensure the success of the 80th anniversary celebrations and accommodate both international delegations and domestic travelers, stakeholders agreed on tight coordination and proactive planning to address potential scenarios.

A representative from the Northern Air Traffic Management Company stated, “We’ve been coordinating closely with relevant units for a long time, calculating the most optimal plans for civil aviation. Any changes or adjustments during this period are carefully considered to minimize impact on commercial flights at Noi Bai.”

Airlines and service units have agreed on several measures, including 24/7 staffing at the Airport Operations Coordination Center (AOCC) to handle any situation promptly, relocating overnight aircraft to nearby airports to ease congestion and prioritize parking for international flights, refueling arriving aircraft in advance to prepare for potential delays due to operational or weather-related issues.

Pride in Supporting a National Celebration

At the conference, Mr. To Tu Ha, Director of Noi Bai International Airport, shared: “Our units have successfully coordinated major national economic and political events in the past. For this year’s grand celebration, we’ve prepared thoroughly and developed flexible plans to handle any situation, contributing to the overall success of the event. Every staff member is proud to play a role in this important national occasion.”

This spirit is spreading throughout the airport. For staff, serving during this time is not just a duty—it’s an honor to contribute to a historic event. Every safe flight and every passenger assisted is a meaningful way to celebrate the occasion.

Noi Bai International Airport also calls for passenger cooperation and understanding, recommending passengers:

  • Regularly check flight information via official airline and airport channels
  • Follow airport staff instructions
  • Help ensure a safe, joyful, and meaningful holiday season
